Around the Body
with Julia Pearring!

Welcome to Bond of Asana!

The Bond of Asana Yoga Program is a series of 8-week courses that offer a guided, systematic and focused exploration within a specific area of the body. The goal is an overall increase in self awareness and expression within our movement and action.

With five separate 8-week courses, we will work our way around the body over a period of time. Hand pick one or more courses, or commit to the full program with a significantly discounted tuition.

We study each area of the body through:

  • Understanding our joints, investigating the space where movement is created, and studying how to successfully support a full range of movement.
  • Cultivating the stability of deeper alignment as we move through different types of poses. This steadiness enables us to assess what needs to shift and to successfully modify in the moment– we gain mobility.
  • Learning to unlock movement in our muscles and soft tissues so we can consciously activate our strength, efficiency, and agency, our ability to take action confidently.
  • Uncovering our individual misalignments and the patterns we are currently using that get in the way of the body functioning optimally.

FAQs

What happens if I can’t attend the live events?2021-03-24T19:50:29+00:00

You are still welcome to sign up for the course! All live events will be recorded so you can engage when it works for your schedule. (I recommend establishing a regular time to do so for the sake of consistency!) Join us for our live events if you can, or submit your questions early and enjoy the recordings at a time that works for you.

What is the time commitment?2021-03-24T00:38:44+00:00

The recorded material, live events, and other contemplations and exercises comprise a minimum of 2 hours and 15 minutes per week. Beyond our weekly live session, consider setting aside at least one other 75-minute period. Another option is to work on the material incrementally for 20 minutes four times per week. Your grasp of the material deepens with each additional practice. A commitment of 3 to 5 hours per week (if possible) will allow the material to resonate in the most profound ways.

You retain access to these materials after the course, so there is no real falling behind or missing out. Even if you can only commit to the basics right now, you can return again and again to keep exploring.

What supplies will I need to have before we start?2021-03-24T00:48:07+00:00
  • It’s ideal to have the typical yoga props: mat, two blocks, blanket, and a strap. For some courses, bolsters and tennis-sized balls will also be used. There are household items that can stand in for these, but if you plan to commit to your asana practice, it’s not a bad idea to invest in the props for your practice.
  • It’s useful to have a journal and a committed space to write, track your progress, and record your insights. You can do this on the computer, but consider whether putting pen to paper will allow you to more freely access your stream of consciousness.
  • You will need to have access to a device that is compatible with zoom technology, with a working camera and microphone. During live asana classes, you will want set up your device in a space and at an angle where you are fully visible standing on your mat.
Is there a payment plan?2021-03-24T00:48:30+00:00

Yes, payment plans are available! All plans must be confirmed ahead of time and must come through Zelle or Venmo. Please contact me directly to set up a plan and secure your registration.

Why does the Deep Dive track have prerequisites? Is this the right program for me?2021-03-24T00:49:29+00:00

This track is intended for long-time practitioners and yoga teachers. A 100-hour Anusara Yoga Immersion or the equivalent is required to join, as we assume a working knowledge of the Anusara Yoga Universal Principles of Alignment. Feel free to contact me to see if this is the right track for you!

I have a more extreme misalignment. / I have a compromised system due to illness. / I am pregnant… Is the Supportive Waters track the right program for me?2021-03-24T00:52:07+00:00

This track welcomes those who have specific therapeutic needs or are newer to the practice of Yoga and are open to the discovery of the body’s innate potential. Please contact me if you are concerned about joining. Let’s see if this course can meet your particular needs.

Will I have access to the material after the program ends?2021-03-24T00:58:57+00:00

You have lifetime access to the materials after the course ends. You can come back again and again to rediscover your learning and deepen your understanding. Each time we hold the course in the future, you can request a complementary re-registration to retake and participate in the full course, including the new live weekly session of Asana practice and Q&As.

If you do request a complementary re-registration, you must commit fully to the course and attend the live portions, as engaging with the group is an important part of the course experience. *Re-registration depends on space availability.

Can I take the course with a friend or a partner?2021-03-24T01:03:06+00:00

Absolutely! Taking these courses with a buddy is encouraged. When we share an experience, we not only increase our understanding, but also show up for one another and are more accountable. Practicing with a friend (virtually or in person) can be a very powerful and supportive experience. So bring a friend (or two) and enjoy 20% off for each participant. *All participants must sign up for the same course in the same track to receive this discount.

Is there a “free trial” option?2021-03-24T01:04:36+00:00

Joining a course requires your full commitment. You can check out a sample week from our Feet, Ankles, and Knees course to see if the course’s guided self-study approach would work for you. As always, contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Do you teach public classes? Where can I sign up?2021-03-24T01:06:56+00:00

I teach public classes at 2 locations on the Upper West Side of Manhattan: World Yoga Center and Upper West Side Yoga & Wellness. To see my current teaching schedule, click here. *Currently all classes are virtual (via zoom).

Do you offer private 1-1 or private group sessions?2021-03-24T00:24:06+00:00

Working with individuals and small groups has always been a highlight of my teaching. I still offer this option, but with limited availability. Please contact me to learn more and to see if it’s a good fit for your needs.
